There was a man in the land of Uz, whose name was Job;
and that man was perfect and upright, and one that feared God, and eschewed evil. [bbe] There was a man in the land of Uz whose name was Job.
He was without sin and upright, fearing God and keeping himself far from evil. And there were born unto him seven sons and three daughters.
[bbe] And he had seven sons and three daughters.
[kjv] His substance also was seven thousand sheep, and three thousand camels, and five hundred yoke of oxen, and five hundred she asses, and a very great household; so that this man was the greatest of all the men of the east.
[bbe] And of cattle he had seven thousand sheep and goats, and three thousand camels, and a thousand oxen, and five hundred she-asses, and a very great number of servants. And the man was greater than any of the sons of the east.1:4[hgb
[kjv] And his sons went and feasted in their houses, every one his day; and sent and called for their three sisters to eat and to drink with them. [bbe] His sons regularly went to one another's houses, and every one on his day gave a feast: and at these times they sent for their three sisters to take part in their feasts with them.

[kjv] And it was so, when the days of their feasting were gone about, that Job sent and sanctified them, and rose up early in the morning, and offered burnt offerings according to the number of them all: for Job said, It may be that my sons have sinned, and cursed God in their hearts. Thus did Job continually.
[bbe] And at the end of their days of feasting, Job sent and made them clean, getting up early in the morning and o
